Our communications department is a close-knit group of professors with years of teaching and real-world experience. We have connections with local TV/Radio stations, print publications and top Chicago ad agencies. We are passionate about the field of communications and this is reflected in our teaching methods. Digital literacy and industry standard technologies are central focuses in our department. As a result, you will graduate with real-life skills that will get you hired.
Students study and practice writing a variety of advertising pieces such as creative briefs, print and digital media.
Students are tasked with developing a creative brief and copy deck to create on-strategy messaging and design for Cereality print ads.
Students experience all aspects of digital video production, from scripting and storyboarding to shooting video and recording audio to editing and post-production.
In Digital Film making students learn a wide variety of film techniques and create videos from stop motion, short interviews and long format documentaries.
Students work with community service organizations using their production talents to help meet the needs in the community.
