The Department of Communications offers a broad curriculum that not only prepares you for production and on-air talent roles, but the comprehensive understanding necessary to climb the career ladder in a wide spectrum of media-based industries. You will learn the fundamental principles of good communications, and be exposed to best communication practices that fit all organizations.
Prepare to lead strategic communication functions for organizations in order to engage and inform key audiences, build relationships and bring user information back to an organization for analysis and action.
Digital Media and Journalism is an interdisciplinary program that will prepare students to be successful in an ever-evolving media landscape. This program pairs traditional journalism skills such as: writing, editing and interviewing with digital media skills like: video, audio and social media content creation.
The next generation of broadcasting requires skilled, knowledgeable and ethical communication professionals with well-rounded storytelling capabilities – able to write, produce and edit in a wide range of media contexts.
The Organizational Communication major is designed for the student who seeks to understand and improve the practice of sharing meaning in a technical and global world. Effective communication is more than words. It is persuasion. It is rhetoric. It is gestures, body language and facial expressions.
